LSE is committed to improving the experience of its diverse student community. The Student Communications Manager plays a leading role in connecting students with School life and developing effective two-way communication and engagement with the student body.

The priority for the role holder will be to deliver the student communications strategy, which focusses on engaging the current student community at LSE and embedding a student-focused approach to communications across our School. Directly linked to LSE’s first strategic priority, Educate for Global Impact, they will have oversight for all central internal student communications and channels, working with teams across LSE to deliver creative communications that contribute to improving the student experience.

This post is a fixed term maternity cover for 12 months. This is a blended remote / in-person role, and there is a minimum expectation of working two days per week from LSE’s campus, and more if required dependent on business need.

Candidate should have experience of:

  • Devising and delivering communications plans, as well as producing high-quality content using a range of channels, digital tools and formats, with the ability to relate to people at all levels
  • Delivering as a creative communicator who considers all opportunities for engagement with target audiences
  • Working with a range of stakeholders to develop common ways of working, foster innovative ideas and effective communications for diverse audience needs
  • Analysing communications engagement trends and statistics, using insight to inform practice.

As an equal opportunities employer strongly committed to diversity and inclusion, we encourage applications from those of Black, Asian, Minority, Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds and disabled candidates as they are currently underrepresented at this level in this area. All appointments will be made on merit or skill and experience relative to the role. We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working, and excellent training and development opportunities.

A note on terminology

Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) and Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) are umbrella terms used in the UK in some instances to refer to all non-white people. However, we recognise that these terms are problematic, in that they mask differences in lived experience and outcomes for many different ethnic groups. Improving our community’s understanding of these differences will be part of our work on race equity at LSE.
