Research Assistant, STICERD-GATES Research Agenda for Representation in Economics

 

Salary from £31,960 to £36,705 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £39,432 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

 

This is a fixed term appointment for 1 year, starting in Summer/Autumn 2023

 

 

We are looking for highly-skilled and motivated individuals to join the STICERD-GATES Hub for Equal Representation (H.E.R). H.E.R is a new research centre in STICERD, established with a generous endowment from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The hub is focused on finding effective ways to improve representation of women and minorities at work. The job will entail close collaboration with Oriana Bandiera, Camille Landais and Nina Roussille on several new and ongoing projects on a broad range of topics related to understanding the determinants of gender and race inequality, and to increasing the representation and opportunities of women and minorities in the economy.

 

The successful candidate should have a completed Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and/or a completed (or nearly completed) Master’s degree in economics or other closely related discipline, strong quantitative and data analysis skills, strong programming skills and confidence with the use of different data management software and the ability to manage own areas of responsibility independently without constant direct supervision. Experience in Stata, SAS or Matlab is essential. We are looking for someone with fluency in written and spoken English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills who is able to communicate effectively to different audiences, conveying complex technical information in a clear and accurate manner.
