Research Officer, Environmental Geography/Political Ecology of the Middle East

 

Salary from £37,197 to £44,802 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £48,168 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

This is a fixed term appointment for 15 months from 1 June 2022 (start date may be negotiable)

 

The LSE Middle East Centre promotes interdisciplinary research on the societies, economies, polities and international relations of the Middle East and North Africa. The Centre seeks a Research Officer to contribute to research activities on the environmental geography/political ecology of the Middle East and to produce independent research.

Candidates should have:

-       social sciences training, including a relevant PhD;

-       a strong record of research and publication on the Middle East;

-       excellent organisation and communication skills

 

The top (essential) criteria for selection are:

 

  • PhD in a relevant subject
  • High-quality published research on the Middle East
  • Knowledge of and connections to the international research community working on the environmental geography/political ecology of the Middle East
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and command of English
  • Experience of communicating research findings to diverse audiences through varied formats
  • Knowledge of Arabic is desirable but not essential.
