LSE Fellow (6 posts)
Salary from £36,647 to £44,140 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £47,456 pa inclusive of London allowance
This is a fixed term appointment for two years, with potential to renew for a third, subject to funding
LSE100, LSE’s interdisciplinary course taken by all first-year undergraduates, is recruiting creative educators with a commitment to research-led teaching to join our multi-disciplinary team. LSE100 introduces students to the School’s mission, enabling them to explore ideas from across the social sciences as they tackle complex problems that cannot be fully understood from the perspective of a single discipline.
LSE100 Fellows teach multiple 80-minute classes of 24 first-year undergraduate students from a range of disciplinary backgrounds, facilitating collaboration and peer learning. Fellows will need to demonstrate a creative and flexible approach in the classroom, drawing on varied educational methods to engage students. Fellows support students in group and individual office hours and provide feedback on assessed coursework. As students will undertake a group research project, Fellows will be required to demonstrate skills in supervision, pastoral support, and problem-solving to facilitate students’ learning and development as effective collaborators.
During the course of the Fellowship, Fellows will work closely with colleagues to develop classes and assessments, creating guidance materials and leading training sessions for the teaching team where appropriate. Fellows will also lead special projects for LSE100 students and staff (e.g., student events and team projects related to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Green Impact, and career development).
Successful candidates will have: completed or be close to completing a PhD in a social science or related discipline by the post start date; relevant teaching and assessment experience; a willingness to work closely with and learn from colleagues, with a demonstrable ability to work as an effective member of a large team; a developing research record in a social science or related discipline; demonstrable interest or expertise in artificial intelligence, fairness, and/or sustainability and the ability to draw on their own disciplinary background(s) and wider social scientific thinking in teaching; and excellent communication and organisational skills.
We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities.

As such, applicants who have already been employed as a LSE Fellow for three years in total are not eligible to apply. If you have any queries about this please contact the HR Division.
