The person will join a very strong and growing group of experts in the Economic Geography cluster of the Department, that includes economists and economic geographers interested in quantitative methods applied to the study of spatial socio-economic phenomena.

Please note that this is an Education Career Track post. Candidates for these posts should have a track record of excellent teaching and a strong commitment to education. The role entails leadership of teaching, administration, supervision, assessment and support to undergraduate and graduate students on courses that involve quantitative methods for the analysis of spatial socio-economic phenomena and GIS techniques; oversight and support to students on the MSc Geographical Data Science; and organisation and participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular learning activities with undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Candidates should have: expertise to a demonstrably high level in geographical data science, spatial analysis techniques, GIS or the quantitative analysis of spatial socio-economic phenomena; a completed PhD (or be close to obtaining a PhD) in a relevant field by the post start date; evidence of an excellent track record in teaching; ability to teach, supervise and mentor students at postgraduate level; ability to teach and convey contemporary research findings on new developments in the field of data science, GIS and spatial analysis techniques. In addition, candidates should have a willingness to design and deliver new courses and develop innovative methods of delivering teaching – including executive education, summer schools and on-line courses.
