Monitoring Analyst  

Salary from £33,558 to £38,541pa inclusive with potential to progress to £41,404 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

The International Growth Centre works with policymakers in developing countries to promote inclusive and sustainable growth through pathbreaking research. The IGC is a global research centre with a network of world-leading researchers and in-country teams and initiatives working across Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East. Based at LSE and in partnership with the University of Oxford, we are majority funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office with support from other global funders. We work to improve the productivity of people and firms as the key driver of sustainable economic development. 

 

The Monitoring Analyst (MA) will report to the Head of MEL and work closely with the Evaluation and Learning Manager and the Senior MEL Officer, following their leadership and expertise on specific MEL related tasks. The MA will support the delivery of IGC’s MEL strategy and will have MEL responsibilities over a specific portfolio covering IGC country programmes and initiatives. The role will be instrumental in supporting the IGC’s commitment to promote the use of data and analysis for organisational decision-making, including but not restricted to:

 

  • Monitoring IGC data and information at the project and cluster/theme levels.
  • Proactively collecting, assessing and quality assuring data, mostly focusing on policy engagement and impact.
  • Carrying out specific analysis and supporting on internal and external reporting needs.  
  • Supporting the refinement MEL tools and processes

 

The successful applicant will have:

 

  • Degree level education (or equivalent), with preference for degrees in International Development, Social Sciences, Economics or related disciplines. 
  • Interest and experience working within a MEL role, or with MEL as a component of a broader role, with demonstrable knowledge of MEL principles, tools, practices and methodologies 
  • Experience collecting, collating, structuring and analysing data from a wide range of sources with high attention to detail.
  • Experience writing professional reports, analysis and synthesising large volumes of data.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office; knowledge of data analysis software and CRMs is desirable
  • Evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Experience managing complex and varied workloads, working to strict timelines and with efficiency and accuracy, often under pressure 
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently 

The position will be based in the IGC Head Office located within LSE, in central London and will be offered on an open-ended basis subject to funding to 30th September 2026.
