Research Officer
(Electoral Psychology Observatory)
Salary: from £39,313 to £47,148 per annum with the potential to progress to £50,614 per annum including London allowance
This is a fixed term appointment from October 2023 to 30 September 2026
The LSE Department of Government seeks to appoint a Research Officer (Postdoctoral Researcher) to join its Electoral Psychology Observatory (EPO) research unit. The EPO houses a series of externally funded research projects concerning electoral hostility and electoral ergonomics. The EPO is directed by Professor Michael Bruter and Dr Sarah Harrison who conduct innovative comparative quantitative and qualitative research in the fields of electoral psychology and electoral ergonomics.
The Research Officer will conduct independent and collaborative research in line with the EPO’s research programmes, as well as support the dissemination of the EPO’s research in a number of knowledge exchange activities and the administrative management of EPO and its research projects.
Candidates should have a PhD close to completion by the post start date, a research portfolio in the fields of electoral psychology, electoral behaviour, and/or political psychology, excellent qualitative research methods, skills and consistently professional behaviours and skills. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of administering/ managing research projects, coordinating workshops/seminars/conferences and other knowledge exchange activities, and of designing and using research methods applied to social science questions. The ideal candidate will also have a research trajectory that is aligned to the field of electoral psychology.
